Camping Gear Rentals

Prepare for a campground stay or shorter overnight trip.

Zion Adventures® offers tents, sleeping bags, sleeping pads, and related equipment for visitors who cannot transport bulky camping supplies from home.

Available camping gear is better suited to campgrounds and shorter trips than lightweight, long-distance backpacking. Some items may work for a 1-night backpacking trip when packed weight is less important.

Get equipped for a prepared technical adventure.

Technical canyon travel requires specialized equipment and the knowledge to use it correctly. Available equipment may include ropes, harnesses, helmets, backpacks, dry bags, canyon footwear, wetsuits, and drysuit packages.

Technical rental availability depends on the route, season, group experience, and rental arrangement. Contact Zion Adventures® before reserving so the team can review your equipment request and confirm what is available.

What Can I Rent From Zion Adventures®?

Browse the available equipment below, then contact Zion Adventures® to confirm inventory, sizing, rental terms, and the appropriate pickup location.

Hiking And Backpacking Equipment

Trekking poles are not intended for use in the Narrows. Use a sturdy wooden walking stick for river travel.

Camping Equipment

Camping inventory is not designed as an ultralight backpacking system. Discuss packed weight with the team if you plan to carry the equipment over a longer route.

Canyoneering And Climbing Equipment

Additional technical equipment may be available through course-participant packages or other arrangements. Contact Zion Adventures® with your complete equipment list.

Choose Narrows Gear For The Conditions

Conditions, not the calendar alone, should determine what you wear.

The appropriate Narrows package depends on the water temperature, river flow, air temperature, weather, and time of year. Conditions can change quickly, so equipment that works during summer may not provide enough protection in early spring, late fall, or winter.

Footwear Package

The footwear package is commonly used during warmer months and lower-water conditions.
It includes:

Your feet will get wet, but the neoprene socks help retain warmth and reduce abrasion. The canyon shoes provide drainage, toe protection, ankle support, and traction on the rounded rocks of the Virgin River.

Starting At $35. Multi-Day Pricing Available.

Dry-Bib Package

The dry-bib package provides additional protection during cooler water and shoulder-season conditions.
It includes:

Dry bibs create a waterproof barrier around the lower body and extend upward for additional coverage. The waterproof material does not provide insulation by itself, so wear appropriate non-cotton layers underneath.

Starting At $65. Multi-Day Pricing Available.

Reserve A Dry-Bib Package

Drysuit Package

The drysuit package provides greater water protection during cold-weather Narrows hikes.
It includes:

Zion Adventures® uses custom Kokatat® drysuits designed for Narrows conditions. Wrist and ankle gaskets help keep water away from the layers worn underneath.

A drysuit creates a waterproof barrier but does not produce warmth by itself. Wear suitable synthetic or thermal layers underneath based on the expected air and water temperatures.

Starting At $65. Multi-Day And Youth Pricing Available.

Choose Between A Wetsuit And Drysuit

Choosing between a wetsuit and drysuit depends on the canyon, season, air temperature, water temperature, time spent in the water, and specific route conditions. There is no single option that works for every trip.

WETSUIT

A wetsuit provides insulation by trapping a thin layer of water against the body and allowing body heat to warm it. It can be a practical choice when additional warmth is needed but a fully waterproof layer is unnecessary.

Slot canyons can retain cold water even during summer. Wetsuits may be suitable for warm-weather canyoneering or shorter descents in cooler conditions.

Full wetsuits use 4-millimeter neoprene through the torso and 3-millimeter neoprene in the arms and legs. A wetsuit jacket or Farmer John can add insulation when more protection is needed.

A wetsuit package may include:

Drysuit

A drysuit is designed to keep water away from the body. It may be appropriate for cooler-weather canyon descents or routes involving prolonged exposure to cold water.

A drysuit does not provide insulation by itself. Wear suitable thermal layers underneath to manage cold conditions.

Technical canyons are hard on rental drysuits. Rock, narrow walls, and repeated abrasion can affect the material. Zion Adventures® inspects and tests returned suits, and coveralls are required over rental drysuits to reduce abrasion.

Even with these precautions, a rental drysuit cannot be guaranteed to remain completely watertight during a technical canyon descent. Test the suit before committing to the route.

A technical drysuit package may include:

Combine An E-Bike With Narrows Gear

Ride an e-bike through Zion Canyon to the Temple of Sinawava, secure it at a designated rack, and continue along Riverside Walk with the equipment needed to hike the Narrows.

Standard adult e-bikes include a basket and walking-stick holder, giving you space to transport your Narrows equipment during the ride.

Warm-Weather Package
$115
Includes:
- Adult e-bike rental
- Narrows footwear package

Cold-Weather Package
$140

The combined package can simplify a day that includes both riding through Zion Canyon and hiking in the Virgin River. It works well for visitors who want greater control over their schedule, plan to begin early, or prefer not to depend entirely on the park shuttle.

Why Rent From Zion Adventures®?

Local Knowledge With Every Rental

Conditions, access, and route needs can change. Since 1996, Zion Adventures® has helped visitors determine which equipment fits their plans and what they should consider before departure.

Equipment Selected For Zion

Available equipment is chosen around conditions found in Southern Utah. Options include Narrows footwear, seasonal dry gear, e-bikes, winter hiking equipment, camping supplies, and technical gear.

Personal Fitting And Support

The right equipment must fit correctly. Staff members help with sizing, explain the equipment, and answer relevant questions before you leave.

Professionally Maintained Equipment

Rental equipment is inspected, cleaned, and maintained between uses. E-bikes are serviced by in-house mechanics, while river and technical equipment is checked before being prepared for the next customer.

Two Convenient Pickup Locations

Springdale and Virgin pickup options allow you to choose the location that best supports your itinerary and selected rental.

How Zion Equipment Rentals Work

4. Begin Your Adventure
Follow the route, permit, park-entry, and safety requirements that apply to your plans. Rental equipment does not replace route preparation, technical training, or current condition checks.

5. Return Your Equipment On Time
Return the equipment to the required location by the deadline listed with your reservation. Narrows gear is due by shop closing time.

Qualifying Narrows rentals collected in Virgin may be returned in Springdale. Top-down Narrows hikers using an early shuttle should collect their equipment on the previous evening because shuttle departures may occur before the shop opens.

Reserve Rental Equipment

1. Choose Your Equipment
Begin with the activity you plan to complete. Review the relevant rental category to compare packages, included items, pricing, seasonal recommendations, and any experience requirements.

2. Reserve In Advance
Advance reservations help Zion Adventures® prepare the correct equipment and sizes. Book early during busy travel periods or when your plans depend on a specific package or item.

Full payment is due when booking. Cancellations made more than three days before the rental receive a full refund. Cancellations made within 72 hours are non-refundable.

A weather forecast alone does not qualify a reservation for automatic cancellation. If Zion Adventures® determines that conditions are unsafe, the team will attempt to reschedule the rental or provide a comparable option. If neither is possible, the purchase will be refunded.

3. Collect And Check Your Equipment
Arrive at the Springdale or Virgin location listed in your reservation. Staff members will confirm sizes, explain the equipment, and make sure the expected components are present.

Narrows gear pickup begins when the shops open at 8:00 a.m. Previous-day pickup may be available after 3:00 p.m. when the equipment has been returned, cleaned, dried, and prepared in your size.

Previous-day pickup is not guaranteed. Reserve the equipment for 2 days when guaranteed evening pickup is important to your itinerary.
